Brands are Using AI for Dynamic Pricing. What Could Go Wrong?
Plus: Generative AI is dominating video ads, Google's AI is judging your ad campaigns, and a guided tour of two AI browsers.
👋 Happy Thursday AI Marketers. Dynamic pricing isn’t new, but brands like Delta are betting AI will make it mainstream. I see a real slippery slope ahead. In other news, Google’s AI is now deciding if your ads are good enough to be shown. You’ll want to see how. And, SaaStr’s Jason Lemkin warns against getting cozy with your AI stack. It might look totally different next year. Let’s get you caught up…
Brands are Embracing AI for Dynamic Pricing (Surprise, Customers are Not)
Delta is leading a shift that’s bigger than airfare. One in five of its tickets will soon be priced by AI, with plans to make that 100 percent. Personalized pricing sounds customer-centric, until it starts feeling like being profiled at checkout. Experts say the airline’s sheer scale could trigger a domino effect across travel, hotels, even retail.
This is about more than rising prices. It's about AI optimizing every transaction for profit, in real time, based on customer data. While some brands are salivating, others are wise to consider the impact on customer sentiment. Concerns over price gouging, exploitation, and discrimination could lead to major backlash.
New Report: Consumers Trust AI Search
AI is no longer a novelty in search. It’s now a default behavior for nearly half of users. A new Yext report shows trust climbing fast, especially for brand discovery, even if traditional search still rules in high-stakes categories. Cross-checking with AI search is now the norm, not the exception. Translation: if your brand shows up differently across platforms, you’re leaking trust at scale.
Over Half of Ad Buyers Use AI for Video Creation
Generative AI has officially hit mainstream in video ads. More than half of ad buyers now use it to build or enhance videos. And by 2026, nearly 40 percent of all digital video ads produced will leverage generative AI. Smaller brands are leading the charge, leveraging AI to create multiple video variations at scale, while redirecting creative budgets toward ad spend.
Google's AI Now Decides if Your Ads Get Served
Google’s new ad quality update is more than a warning shot. It’s a full-on crackdown. Their predictive AI model now attempts to determine whether your ad’s landing page is helpful to users by prioritizing relevance and navigability. And if it isn’t, your ad might not get shown. Gone are the days of CTA click bait and walled-off landing pages. It's a good time to rethink the ad journey with a customer-first mindset.
Don’t Get Stuck to Your AI Tech Stack
Tool loyalty is dead. The best operators know their AI stack today might look unrecognizable next year and they’re building for that. This SaaStr piece nails what most teams are thinking: keep experimenting, keep your options open, and ditch any tool that can’t justify its spot. Growth teams that treat their AI stack like a portfolio, not a permanent fixture, are the ones that stay dangerous.
Why wait to see what the AI browser fuss is all about? Olivia Moore from a16z guides us through the two big ones that just dropped: Dia (The Browser Company) and Comet (Perplexity AI). If you’re a marketer or brand leader itching to know how these tools actually work, how they’ll reshape search, and how they’ll streamline everyday tasks, this is essential viewing.
